Crab Pot Removal on Barnegat Bay
We are working with the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey, Monmouth and Stockton Universities to remove derelict fishing gear (abandoned or "ghost" crab pots from Barnegat Bay. The project, funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Adminstration (NOAA), was successful this past winter season, collecting 400 abandoned (derelict) crab pots and will continue into 2017 as we expect to remove a 1000 derelict crab pots and other fishing gear. We will be posting some opportunities for volunteers to get involved and updates about our progress.
